Christina Grimmie of The Voice Was Fatally Shot After an Orlando Concert

Christina Grimmie, 22, was shot and killed late Friday night after a concert at Orlando’s Plaza Live theater. The singer had just finished performing with the band Before You Exit and was signing autographs in the lobby. Grimmie was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and died a few hours later.

The killer has not been named but Grimmie’s brother tackled the assailant, who CNN reports was carrying two firearms. The killer then shot himself during the fight.

Little is known about the assailant at the moment as information is being released slowly by the authorities. However, he is reportedly a 21-year-old white man who is not a resident of central Florida and he traveled quite a long way to get to Grimmie.

Grimmie was well known for having performed on the talent show “The Voice” and was beloved by fans and fellow performers alike. She performed on season 6 of the series where she was coached by Adam Levine.

Before becoming a star on The Voice, Grimmie already had a following of 2 million on YouTube.

Truly a sad day.
