“Tinder Enthusiast” Accused of Killing Ex-Girlfriend and Stashing Her Body

A San Francisco man has been arrested in Colorado under suspicion of allegedly murdering his ex-girlfriend and hiding her body in a storage unit. 38-year-old James Woo has been described as a “Tinder enthusiast” which has led police to search for possible Tinder match the man may have been in contact with in hopes to get a clearer picture of his motives and/or events leading up to the the ex-girlfriend being murdered.

Officials found he body of Julie Tureson, a 33-year-old Colorado Springs resident, a few hours after she was reported missing. Her body was found inside a van which discovered  in a storage unit owned by Woo near Colorado Springs. The van has since been identified as Tureson’s.

According to officials, Tureson and Woo were in a relationship for several years before they broke up. Though El Paso County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Jacqueline Kirby did not comment when or how it began. She also did not comment what events led to the break up. The Denver Post added that her cause of death has not been determined as they are waiting for a toxicology report to be completed.

Woo was apprehended at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, where he had planned to board a flight to Hong Kong. Cliff Porter, another representative from the EL Paso County office, told NBC Bay Area, that Woo was held by Homeland security as he was “about an hour from leaving the state for Hong Kong.”

Officials added that they do not believe there are any other victims at this time, authorities “would like to talk to anyone who has e-mailed, texted or met with Woo” and Kirby said, “We are asking people along the Front Range and in the San Francisco Bay area that if they had any communication with Mr. Woo [to contact us].”
